Burtonport is a small fishing village located in the area known as "The
Rosses" and is the main fishing centre in West Donegal. Many people
in this area depend on the fishing through catching, fish farming
and the processing of fish.

Burtonport is a popular sea-angling centre with its sea-angling
charter boats, shore marks and beach casting. There is also
a good fresh water fishery run by the Rosses Anglers Association
on its many well stocked lakes.

The Arranmore Island ferry departs from Burtonport with sailing
regulary throughout the day.

The Burtonport Summer Festival takes place in the village during the third week in July each year. Just 8 km from Dungloe which is the principal town of the Rosses and the thriving commercial centre of the area.

Dungloe plays host to thousands of visitors who come for one of
Ireland's favourite festivals, The Mary from Dungloe International
Festival
. This festival takes place in the last week of July and
ends on the August Bank Holiday Monday.

Bunbeg (An Bun Beag)
Bunbeg is set in the heart of
Donegal's Gweedore Gaeltacht. In
the Gaeltacht areas the people
strive to maintain a living Irish
culture of language, music, song
and dance. Bunbeg Harbour is a
picturesque little harbour at the
narrow mouth of the Clady River.
This river is renowned for its good
Salmon and Trout fishing. The
Tory Island Ferry departs from
Bunbeg each morning.
