Go deep sea fishing in Ireland

Blue Fin Tuna Fishing

Five Tuna were caught during September 2001 in Donegal Bay. All weighed in around 300 - 350lbs.

New Record Set

The British record for Blue Fin Tuna stands at 835lbs (379kgs)(and the World record is still around 1400lbs (635kgs). At the beginning of October a new Irish and European record was set.

The record breaking fish, weighing a staggering 968lbs, was caught by Adrian Molloy from Kilcar, Co. Donegal on board the 23ft (7m) Leah C, which is based in Killybegs. Four days later, the Leah C had a 600lbs (272kgs) Blue Fin tuna on board.

Since these Tuna were caught, two huge shoals were seen in Donegal Bay. However several sighting were close to Arranmore Island. Both Burtonport and Bunbeg harbours, used by the Loinnir, are conveniently located between all the sightings along the Donegal Coast.

The Loinnir is now available for blue Fin Tuna fishing for the months of September and October 2002. Equipped with fighting chair, outriggers and 130lbs two speed Rod and Reel (available for hire). Lures etc. available on board.
